I Have A Dream

Jeff, The Cycads you see are C.revoluta and Zamia pumila. I planted around 24 crotons in this side yard garden so far and still room for more. I also replaced the Royal palm with a Butia Hybrid.

That is a terrific spot Scott. Can't wait to see it. That whole side yard is going to be outstanding spectrum of color. I think your garden will be a terrific spot to an upcoming meeting :D

Bren, That part of the side yard was your suggestion you gave me last Fall when you were over. When I had the Royal removed last week I thought of your suggestion and went with it. Lot of sun in most of the area, but will make it work. Thank you for the great suggestion.

Scott - is your project currently being undertaken? I am dying to see some pictures!

Ron, Here are some pictures of a current project. This should hold you over.

Maybe not the best idea to plant on the eastern bank of the lake. The last few weeks the Crotons have taken beating from this 10'11" male that has avoided the capture for a few years. Today was not his day, he gave a good fight as it took five guys (including me) about 1hr to pull him in.

Wish they could have relocated him to the everglades. He is a fine lookin' fella. At least ya'all can breath a little easier now. I'd be unsettled sharing space with him.

Scott - Start marinating the tail cut into 2" chunks. Save belly skin for boots. We can serve red neck lobster at the Croton Society Meeting at Mike Harris' Garden. :p

Ron, Will this hold you over? Hope to finish this area this weekend. The crotons should color up over the summer and make a good color splash.

Here is a little sample of a few of the Crotons planted in this 100ft area. This area also has a mix of other plants.

I am happy to report I have met my goals for this year up to now. Now left with a few touch ups of mulch. Its time to take a break and go fishing in my spare time.

Ron, It is hard to get the best pictures in this area planting. Maybe another year and the plants will be larger for a general color impact.
