Here is my Stoplight that went black 2 years ago. Finally showing color again.

Scott - did you know there is a cultivar called Lights Out? It is very rare and I had the opportunity to purchase it. I resisted the temptation of its rarity and passed. It just did not get the moose juices flowing.

Low light will cause a Stoplight to black out easily.

Mine is in fairly deep shade and it stays red.

I think if you keep it actively growing in a sunny spot then the lights will stay on...

Nice example of slow color change. We should do that more often.

Stoplight has regained its standing as one of my top favorites. Love the color and graceful 17" leaves on 5" leaf stem.
