Since I bought this at HD,it has acclimated and grown 100% all new foliage in a Hayward ca summer. Funny that Crotons have such thick leaves..but when the time has come to shed them, they turn to very brittle light leafs and breakdown fast.
This one tells me- we are warm enough in summer..but if not for the cool winters,I would get more.

Stan, your Petra looks great. You know, this cultivar was created for low light. You can take it inside to a brightly lit window for a few weeks, I think- at least during the cold spells, and it should do fine. Next year it will get even larger. It is loving that spot!

Thank you. Petra? I didn't know what the name was. Compared to Florida, Hayward summers are low light-lol. The best average is about 80f June- September. Some years we can be as bad as San Francisco. Too much fog too.
