Hibiscus flower in a Hibiscus flower.

The Bizz palms are a good deal. But if I went for a more sure thing like the variety of Ti plants- would that leave room? The other palms would be just too tender. I can see growing them for years- then all gone on one winter night. You can PM me. The wife? I can hear "More plants?"..then when...

Hibiscus flower in a Hibiscus flower.

I've seen H.rosas sinensis in Oakland about two stories tall. Must have had a small tree trunk under all that foliage. In Hayward there is a nice variegated H.rosa sinensis planted in a front yard a friend told me. I got to ride over there one day.

Hibiscus flower in a Hibiscus flower.

It should be good to go in ground. H.rosa sinensis is very hardy. I've never heard or seen a lantern style flower. Really a secret up to now. Thanks!

Hibiscus flower in a Hibiscus flower.

I was just reading and looking at photo's of this Hibiscus new to me. It might have been on Dave's Garden and I did not bookmark that plant. I'm interested if it grows in California. As described it was a smaller bloom in the larger bloom and a creamy orange color. I have a Rose that color. Very...

    Hardy Palms Running Wild.

Oh yeah they can get as large here as SouCal..maybe even Hawaii. 100'+ are seen around the bay area. Just not nearly as many of them get the chance. It must eat up most of a century for them to get way up there. And only if they are watered the whole time. 7/11 planted a few Dean about 50 years...

    Hardy Palms Running Wild.

This Oasis is a couple miles from me. There is an underground spring that has got exotics to grow through a rainless summer. Acacia,Citrus,Pampas Grass and plums and some other fruits the homeless "planted seeds of". Interestingly enough the CIDP were on the shady east and north side, the Washys...

    Ti plant comeback.

What's THIS?..Its the hardiest colorful Ti I have tried. Even the stems have some small girth. No pink to leaves ever..just this dark burgundy. If those in the bay area want to try a Ti- this is one of the best.

Sick of the Mad Fox Yet?

Ah,that's right. My in laws from Miami on one of their visits here? Asked me how much a problem are mosquitoes. I sort of laughed and told him that you need water for them and I cant remember the last time I saw a puddle in town.

    Clerodendrum quadriloculare

I have it in a pot. It did send up a few robust stems this summer. Sort of telling me it can get much larger in the right spot here. It does have the weird habit of dropping all its leaves in mid summer....takes a couple of weeks to regrow. That was its first summer. We will see in summer no.2

Sick of the Mad Fox Yet?

Thats a 3-5 frond palm in California on average. Cracks me up that she is wearing a sweater in Hawaii. Its must be below 75f!

Nelson Kirk aka Swamptree Nelly is the originator of those palm plantings Ed. Many he grew from seed, others were donated by nurseries or palm society members. I was the one who suggested Queen palms- like that or not-lol. Looking at them? I cant believe that its been that long since I talked to...
