Thanks for trying. I notice Phil there are much more of this then Petra or Mammy. As usual the climate dictates whats going to to do better. If you drive around- skip around- you might find some closer to the street. Still looks to my eye at least that of some heirloom Croton- not the big flashy...
Funchal seems to be Los Angeles like and this particular Croton seems happy in the mild climate in Funchal.

Last winter was brutally chill. We didnt have much frost- but one 32f night and followed by weeks of rain and cold caused some of my tender plants to die or rot. Poinciana died for one. My Ti plants of color..by the time spring rolled around I had to removed all the foliage..it was so ragged and...
Fastest Ficus I have ever tried. Faster then even F.macrophylla. This was a 3" pot Walmart plant in spring 2014. Most colorful of the various variegated species with red being much more long lasting then the others.
Got this last week or so. I was told it carries the color best in light shade..too much sun and it turns grey. It's also supposed to hold the Peach color all year..maybe stronger in bloom I suspect.
One was yellow..so I cut the whole bunch down. It had sort of an apple- vanilla flavor. I expect the others to ripen better now that warm -70's has hit the bay area.
This winter killed most large branches. So,it IS MUCH more tender then the usual HRS. We will see if it comes back strong. I knew anything this tropical looking would have trouble in our winters. Despite just a single 32f morn- only a couple of hours there...the all season of cold never ending...
What a huge difference a year makes..COLD this March and not a 70f in sight. Heavy rains since October. My Adenium developed rot even under cover on the porch. Now indoors its on life support with maybe the base alive- all branches are dead. Too touchy and too slow here. Better to go with...
Use the street view on the upper left to slide from 2011 -2016. From about 18" seedling to 10' flowering in June 2016. So,if it was started from seed in 2010 or early 2011.. five-six years to eat fruit. Grafted Mangoes tend to be larger for sale. But,it could be a Manila bought at HD. Will have...
