    Seeing Some Potential Here

Tell me what one is the elusive one - you never know - we may have it. I doubt it. But no harm in asking.

    Are these unusual?

Ah yes - Pink Ribbons rings a bell with Angela - so that must be it. She also remembered the other as Maize. Here is another pic showing the whole plant a little better. That orange one you posted looks to have a similar trait.

    How can I edit palmpedia?

Because of the nature of the wiki you need to be manually admitted. Once you have the ability to edit Palmpedia, you can do just about anything - so spammers are a real danger. We would very much like contributors - especially habitat photos. It may seem a little intimidating when first viewing...

    Are these unusual?

Here are two Ti Plants I don't remember seeing in our discussions. One is weird in that the older leaves get red, while the new ones are pure green. I saw a whole "wall" of these in a garden and they looked pretty cool - different - more red than this one. And the other is just a skinny one for...

Man, you just keep the nice ones coming. Thanks for the pics.

    Talamanira

That's a new one for me - unusual and attractive. Any idea if it's old/new, from where? Maybe Peter's would know.

    Hawaiian Rose

I'm pretty sure I've got that one around somewhere. Yours is a perfect example. Reminds me of Haleakala with some pinks.

    Seeing Some Potential Here

I just reviewed this topic, and remembered how many neat new stuff you have. After just getting back from Tahiti I have a new appreciation for Ti Plants. I was amazed at how few they had there, and how without them the landscape and gardens seem to have something missing - or perhaps I became...

I don't have a lot of Crotons, but have a few from cuttings we've seen around town. This one is finally ready for the ground. However, I have no idea if it is a "common" cultivar, or hopefully something a little "special." There is no telling what I could come up with over here. So, anyone???

Blechnum brasiliense - A Miniature Tree Fern

I can never get enough of these ferns when they are flushing. They are like a miniature tree fern, so can go just about anywhere. Sometimes they flush twice a year and when they do, they are hard to miss. Blechnum brasiliense. I have grown these successfully in coastal So. California

Cyphosperma balansae - a winner not grown enough

This small grouping is really starting to take off. I don't know why it isn't grown more. I have one 15+ year old outside in SoCal, so I know it should be tried more there. These are about 6 yrs in the ground (in Hawaii) from two gal size.

    Kentiopsis pyriformis?

Bren, That is a very well grown K. oliviformis. As nice as any I have seen.

    Kentiopsis pyriformis?

I'm gonna have to disagree with Ray. It looks like a K. oliviformis to me.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Spring Sale

Marie, Thanks for reminding me. The in-laws are arriving soon from the Mainland, so..... How do I convince them that a plant sale is more important than visiting with them. Hmmmm - I should be able to think of something. :)

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Spring Sale

Thanks Marie, I wish it was that easy to get a truckload of unusual plants around here. At times is feels like the "good ol' days" in SoCal here, where I would take a 4 hour round trip drive for one unusual palm. :( The good news it that it seems much easier most places now than 40 yrs ago. I...

    Orchids As Weeds

Here's a good tip. I'll think I'll auction some off when these poop out.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Spring Sale

I hope someone here will take some pics and share. It's always a treat to see what comes up for sale in different parts of the world.

Cassia Grandis (Carao) in bloom - Bukut Tree

"Tastes like anchovies and fish sauce mixed with molasses" - not sure if that sales pitch would sell much. :) But your pics prove the tropics do have seasons.

    Orchids As Weeds

Well they are growing as weeds. But I guess technically a weed means it is undesirable - which these are not. But I do have to pull 'em up from time to time when they start coming up in some places. These Nun's Orchids (Phaius tankervillia) come up almost everywhere - on tree trunks, on rocks...
