What is wrong here?

Leaves start out normal with new growth, but as the leaves get older and color up good they leaves flip upside down showing the red underside.

It is possible that an insect infestation can deform the emerging leaf causing it to curl. These insects could still be present or might be long gone, having caused a little damage that manifests itself later.

A much more likely scenario is that it is genetic. Some curly leaf DNA is asserting itself to give the leaves a twist.
