This pic was posted on another site I frequent. It was a first time blooming and the poster was quite proud. This is a bromeliad related to puyas and dyckias and hechtias and such. It comes from southern Chile along the coast, so likes it cool. This particular plant is growing in Ireland of all places. If one can give it cool wet winters, it's supposed to be easy to grow.

So just out of curiosity I went looking on eBay. Well dang! Wouldn't you know, there was a seedling up for bids and it had 12 hours left. So, I bid on it and won! Well actually, I had to bid on it a second time and I'm sure I spent way too much money on it. But hey, you only live once.
