That's very cute. FYI, I bought a dwarf, fruiting banana plant from the San Francisco Flower Exchange in 1996. If you want to attempt hothouse growing in NorCal, you might go shopping there.
I think Dwarf Cavendish is the best that we can grow. I did try the "SuperDwarf" that was sold for years here. Too tropical. I only got it to fruit in a greenhouse. I do have "Ice Cream/Java" planted out..maybe in a year or two it will start to give. They are known for cool temperature tolerances.
The local Filipino supermarket (and its big- not a corner market) carries all kinds of specialty tropical fruits you will never find at Safeway!
