    Brahea? plus bonus palms.

I kept looking at that lush green double palm, every frond perfect green. It looks Dean like what you would see in Hawaii...I imagine. Heres a Sabal Birmingham I was told. Hardy to zone 7!

Flowers That Even Darwin Can't Explain

I see Angel Orchid flower as a Flying Albino grasshopper. The Egret looks much more like a raptor. Alien Orchid I think is because of the resemblance to those Muppet aliens that would say, yup, yup, yup. To each his own-ha..

    Spectacular Pandanus monotheca

I will call you on that one Dean. Two years. Spectacular,I agree with. Is that a Aloe barbarae in the background? On Hawaiian life I saw a large Dragon tree fronting a yard. Just not often you see the dry tropicals there.

Washingtonia going extinct in the SF bay area?

I almost went with California, then stuck to what I know. So, I have noticed there are few newly planted Washies in the bay area. Landscapers and commercial property and cities just are not planting them. I do see many new plantings of huge Date palms,Canary Island Date palms..and good old...

    I.D plant by description...

I was watching a show on Belize and saw a plant new to me. It was growing as a trimmed 5' hedge,it had rounded and some cupped leafs, glossy and some yellow variegation, not much of that. The undersides of every leaf was a burgundy. Some Croton? maybe?

    The "Swiss Cheese" Philodendron

The photo reminds me of the ones I took in the Conservatory of Flowers rainforest greenhouse. Fogged up my glasses too. I haven't seen Swiss Cheese plant in years for sale. From common to cant find them. With the drought the box stores are closing their nurseries already and the real nurserys...

Mammy and Petra after one winter and two summers in the SF bay area.

Thanks Moose. Its outdoors all year in a pot. Its reliable. It and Plastic Pink sailed this winter. Plumeria obtusa? wow- very tender. Just the nights getting to the 40's last November caused it shed leaves. I'm hoping that was residual Hawaii tolerance (from where I ordered it) and it gets that...
