    Top Ten "Starter" Crotons

Walking around the yard this morning, and saw it's once again time to trim and shape my "Piecrust." I have numerous cuttings started from continually having to trim back "Piecrust." I really like this one, and it is one of my firsts. I've shared it with many. This is my submission for the...

    Top Ten "Starter" Crotons

Wow - thank you very much! As was obvious from my little offerings at the auction, I am baby-stepping through the process of bringing my plants up to "sharing" status. I look forward to having some nice trades after this summer!

    Top Ten "Starter" Crotons

Oh Brother! I do not have Stewartii or Van Buren! Does this mean I don't graduate from Newbie status? Also, I forgot to mention how nice it was to meet your better half - Pam - I'm glad she joined us for the auction. I'm still picturing her counting all the dough collected on the new...

Croton tour at FLAMINGO GARDENS (OUTSTANDING)

Mike - thanks for organizing such a fantastic croton gathering at Flamingo Gardens. We really enjoyed the tour of the garden and hope to visit there again to see the areas we missed. It was gracious of Stan to tour us around and give the history of garden. It's always great to see a part of...

Very nice, Mike. Looking forward to bidding on these beauties. I just potted up my very first air layers this weekend. I'll try to photograph, ID and post to this thread later. Just viewed the Flamingo Gardens website, and it looks like a lovely place to visit. I did not know it's also...

I demand an investigation into Moose's growth techniques!!

Thanks, Ron. I am going to start using the oak leaves that we've saved. There's a lot more to rake! I haven't been using store-bought mulch too much lately - trying to use pine straw for mulch where possible.

I demand an investigation into Moose's growth techniques!!

Question about the oak leaf composting. Is it as simple as setting aside a bin for oak leaves, and then use as necessary? Do you have to wait for a certain amount of time before use? I stopped my husband from getting rid of a pile of oak leaves, and now I want to know how to store these for...

Searle Brothers Spring 2013 Extravaganza! - Plant Info

It was great to see Jeff, Judy and Ron at the Sale yesterday! This sale has now become one of my favorite things to do. I was happy to come home with a few croton beauties: Her Majesty (which I've already planted to round out a grouping of three whitish/green plants with different leaf...

    Delving into the Palm World...

Hi there, palm lovers! I'm jumping over from the Croton forum and delving into palms. A few weeks ago I acquired some "baby palms" from a hobbyist in Port St. Lucie. He has a wonderful collection and is very knowledgeable in the world of palms. Looking forward to watching these grow in the...

14th Annual Fall Plant Extravaganza! - Sale List and Info

Once again, it was so difficult to choose from all the beautiful cultivars made available by Jeff. My sister picked up the Louis Dupuy and a King of Siam. I got Pop's Yard, Ortegas, Pride of Winter Haven, Dr. Frank Brown, Dreer #7, Lt. Paget, Robert Lavalois, Madame Fernand Kohl, Mrs...

    Here is your rain...............................

This is good news! I just finished cleaning up a bunch of potted plants that were sitting in the water for a few days. I lost a 5-6 year old little magnolia that is planted in the "lowlands." That rain was freakish, and you guys got hit hard. Glad to see you are recovering nicely.

14th Annual Fall Plant Extravaganza! - Sale List and Info

Leslie (bahadawn) - you need to schedule your sick days the first Friday every October. You will never see such a selection of available cultivars like this. The croton dash is also an adventure. There are sometimes some gems that never make it to the list ... I'm hoping to next year...

Just got around to planting this one yesterday and lo and behold a thread about The Rheedii's. I acquired it at the last auction. It is tagged as Rheedii, but no number. It's definitely a favorite of mine.
