A 5-6 month old cutting has not achieved its mature rhizomatuous root system, therefore the dry soil from lack of rain was more likely the cause of this problem.
I finished planting the new area this week and it is now home to 48 different Ti. Got to find another area to redo as I have lots more to get in ground.
Lamar, A garden tour is possible later in the year. The new area should fill in real good this summer and give the Hawaiian Garden look I am striving for. Here is a snap shot of the western side of the area .
I am almost at the end of the clean up and will start the plantings the first week of June.

Something unusual on this one the flowering and seed ripening seems to be ending the life of the stalk. New shoots have emerged at the root zone. Hope the fruit are full of seed.
I put this 14"air layer on Diane for a friend some weeks ago, roots now coming out of bottom of the plastic wrap. With Diane being such a large leaf Croton and a new flush of leaves now emerging should I wait longer to remove it?
The elusive 'New Guinea Fan' not found in Fl to my knowledge as I can not find it here. It looks to be a very hard one to find, but I believe it will show up in a couple of central Fl yards this year.
The good news that they are used a lot in the landscapes here, but it is the hand full of the same that can always be found in every garden center around these parts. Seek and you shall find... that is what makes collecting them fun. I am determined that I am going to my hands on one this year...
I have no clue on the red with the green new growth. I do have a offspring plant from Jackie that has all green new growth that age to orange. The second looks to be 'Pink Ribbons'
