Glauca

Glauca is also known as Soledad Purple. This Cordyline is said to grow best in a shade location in the garden. I grew Glauca for many years in a shade location and I really did not care for the look of this plant. I rooted a stem last year and made a choice to plant this one in a almost full sun location. In my eye I now prefer the sun grown look. Here is the shade grown Glauca...

Here is Glauca that makes it home in the sunny location showing a golden green leaf color with a much more noticeable purple color on the new growth. The leaf size on Glauca is 11" x 2" in both shade and sun locations in the garden.
