    Croton Society News Letter

I would also like to thank Lee and Connie for the work they've done. It has taken a lot of devotion and it shows. (I just hope they're not going to Disney World)

    Another not about crotons Thread

Looking good Moose! What variety? We have an early season tree, a mid and a late. We freeze or dehydrate everything we can't eat in season to enjoy the rest of the year. The squirrels don't come around much anymore, too many sudden disappearences in our neck of the woods.

Need help with an Identification - Bizarre

Moose- when you first noticed it, did anyone in the car get wiplash? How long are the skid marks on the pavement? I agree with Ray, it looks like a very nice Golden Glow.

    The Other Secret Garden

We've been spending a little time in the keys and last week I was blindfolded, spun around three times, and driven to a secure location. All I can say for sure is that it's somewhere between Key West and Marathon, and that there's massive walls of crotons everywhere. There were a lot of very...

Shrub/tree suggestion to grow crotons under

White Geiger is a beautiful little tree. Cold hardy, long bloom time, not too tall, but not exactly fast growing. Loquat is faster growing but will eventually be taller than 15 feet. Both keep their leaves in the winter.

    Newbie check-in

Search this site for Sergey, he grows crotons in Siberia, and they are as nice as any. Multiple flowers are not uncommon, these plants are known to do a lot of strange things.

Cold tonight, should I pack the greenhouse?

I have not noticed any benefit from defoliation or cold damage. It seems to set them back no matter what. Pinching the tips can make a plant more bushy, but cold damage makes a plant less vigorous.

You may want to check ...

Any time you see ants on your crotons should be a call for alarm. Those little bastards will spend all the live-long day farming scales and aphids. If you don't catch it early it can really set back a plant.

    The Croton Society

I grew up in New England so I always enjoyed the color of the leaves in the fall. In the late 70's we'd visit my Great Grandmother who lived on Andrea St. in Key West. I was always amazed at some of the plants in the neighbood. The leaves looked like giant pendulums of swirled and spotted...
