    Fall croton tour in Plantation

Thanks so much for organizing the Fall Croton tour! Having missed a few tours, I'm chomping at the bit to attend another. Nov 1 is great for me. Reading through this thread and learning about the different plant sales, etc., and thinking it would be good to have a central area here to...

    Come & Get Them Free

We took up Randy's very generous offer this weekend and he shared some wonderful croton beauties with my sister and me. We especially enjoyed touring his wonderful tropical paradise garden. Every direction in view revealed so many unusual palms, cycads, and stunning crotons! We also enjoyed...

    Croton Placement

Just logging on to look for posts on cultivars to do well in bright light - perfect timing! Recently obtained a Sybil Griffin (and Monarch - yay!!!) from Marie Nock. Thinking about placing Sybil Griffin in an area near front of house which will get bright light from the east, and shaded...

Crotons in the Landscape - Let us see Yours

Pix - very pretty how you've combined the different plants. Like the use of mondo grasses, podocarpus and duranta - these will fill in nicely underneath and around the crotons and Ti. Lovely! Ron - the swale landscaping is beautiful - I know your neighbors appreciate this tropical planting...

    Keith Hanks's hybrids

The interrupted leafed variety is a favorite of mine. Never have seen the oak leaf interrupted - that Cleopatra is VERY cool. Tye Dye is quite beautiful with the pinks and many different leaf shapes. Thanks, Ana for posting these pics. Mr. Keith Hanks - I applaud you for these stunning...

    Today & Tomorrow

So good to visit Fairchild Gardens for the first time. Definitely have to get back there to see more of this beautiful Florida treasure. Hope to plan for a very early morning visit for ample time to walk through the palms and see these up close, the rain forest and the butterfly house...

    Natures Fury

Scott - Good point re: planting under canopy of trees. I've been trying to do that, most recently under some oaks. Hoping these won't be too shaded. Since we have a lot of pine trees, I like to plant around these and crotons and Ti seem to do well underneath (although spindly pine branches...

    Today & Tomorrow

Regrettably, I have never visited Fairchild Gardens. Saw this event in Florida Gardening mag. Ron, you may have spurred me into a visit! Thanks for pics of these cool ferns and all the beautiful crotons, orchids and other tropicals.

    Tropical and Subtropical vines

I have a few hoya, which I enjoy for their little upside down umbrella flowers. There is a variegated heart-shaped leaf that is especially nice. Mine are in hanging baskets in a small slatted orchid house where they can vine through the slats.

    Natures Fury

That was quite a storm, Scott. We haven't had a hailstorm to that extent over here on the east coast in many years. I remember I was driving through such a storm and worried that the car windows were going to shatter. Just curious about your learning experience, are you going to cover your...

    Lucky Gold?

Thanks for responding, Phil. Not sure where I came up with "Lucky Gold." The tag had gone missing and for some reason, that name was in my mind. Then, I couldn't find a picture to compare it to. Had a moment of excitement that since "Lucky Gold" wasn't on the WIKI, I could add it. Oh...

    Lucky Gold?

May I have help with an ID? Is this Lucky Gold? I obtained it at the last sale I was able to attend at Jeff Searle's nursery. I looked for Lucky Gold on the wiki, but it's not there.

    Wiki photos 2014

Lamar and Ana - thanks for adding "Buttercup" to the wiki. I have a garden area dedicated to purple and yellow (mostly butterfly attracting) plants and several green/yellow crotons of various leaf shapes are very happy in there. Adding the pretty Buttercup to my wish list! Bonus for when I...

    Key's Magic

Jerry - If I may echo Ana's sentiment - Thank you for this informative post. I've learned so much from all the generous "croton friends" here on the forum, and all the advice is extremely appreciated. What is it about walking around your plants once or twice a day and tending to their care -...

    C. Pretty Bird

Thanks for asking, Anna - I haven't posted photos in forever. Here is C. Pretty Bird. Not as big and lush as the one in Marie's post, but it will get there! Hope you're enjoying your auction prizes. There is a great thread on here started by Ron about Black Beauty, which I think you took...

    Croton Bangkok Flame

Welcome aboard the Croton Forum! The "Lemon Sorbet" from down under is sure nice. Wonder if that cultivar is grown here, under a different name?

    C. Pretty Bird

Thanks for re-upping this post, Ron - I searched on here for mention of Pretty Bird after the auction. I was trying to determine my favorite prize from the auction - very difficult task for sure! I keep going back to my little "Pretty Bird."
