Thanks Tim. That's one of our larger ones.

    Jeff Chait Hybrids & Seedlings

Tim, describing its growth habit as like Chili Pan is perfect. I only have one plant in the ground growing under a huge Coccoloba pubescens so it gets very little light. I take cuttings each year to make one pot available for sale/auction or trade.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Spring Sale

Dean, you have an opportunity this coming weekend in Hilo. It's the BIAN Spring Sale. We thought we'd be there for it because it's usually the first weekend in March, but this year they moved it to April. We have found wonderful plants at the Spring Sale in the past.

Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden Spring Sale

Steve took a shot of our booth while I was sticking on prices and there's a shot of the next booth selling gingers and heliconias. Sorry he didn't get the other vendors selling bromeliads, crotons, bonsai, flowering trees and shrubs, tropical fruit, palms, orchids, bananas, cacti/succulents...

    Wiki photos 2016

Ana, I'm so glad you're willing to do the wiki again for awhile. Here's one I've been wanting to get into the wiki. I posted a thread on it a couple of years ago. It's a spontaneous seedling that popped up in a pot here. It has been shared - a couple of people bought it here, Longwood...

Spring 2016 Garden Tour & Croton Auction

George, thanks so much for sharing your incredible garden with us today. Steve didn't have his camera for the early part of the tour but here are a few shots he took later on. A great lunch - thanks to all the providers and a great auction - thanks Phil and Tim. I love our gatherings!

    Plant ID

Bren, we have it available but we don't ship. To your advantage it's one of the more cold hearty philodendrons. Customers of ours north of you in Palm Harbor have purchased about 30 P. martianums for their landscape. The plants are fairly slow growing so you're paying for time based on the...

A Beautiful Bush - But No ID - Help Please

I've just been lucky so far in that you're posting plants that we grow. When the lalique forms seeds and they're ripe, you'll be able to smear them on a tree trunk that's in a humid area and they'll sprout and grow happily on the tree. This is only in Hawaii; it won't work here in Miami.

A Beautiful Bush - But No ID - Help Please

It's a very happy Medinilla lalique.

    Medinilla magnifica

Greg, they're fairly easy from seed. I clean the seed in a jar of water and then sow the seed on top of moist sphagnum moss in a small pot. Then I spray with a weak mix of water, fungicide and fertilizer. I then cover with saran wrap and put on a heating pad. The plants grow very slowly from...
