One of the Biggest I've Seen - Allagoptera arenaria

Yep they do. I'm not partial to planting them myself, but I do appreciate them. I'll have to take a pic of a pretty good sized one down at this same nursery. They also have some beautiful fast growing Bismarkias as well.

    Dypsis sp. 'bejoufa'

Dypsis sp. "bejoufa," "bejoufa," and more "bejoufa." And I haven't ever found one to buy yet. :( One of the top five Dypsis, for sure. And still no official name that I am aware of.

Fremont CA Bay Area Mango tree on YouTube.

Are there any Avocados up there? I always thought that Mangoes were on a par with Avocados as far as growing needs.

A Unique Philodendron - Philodendron warscewiczii

This Philo has one of the most striking and different leaves - IMO. I addition, it has one of the thickest "trunks" I have seen. It is not that difficult to grow, and adds a nice addition to the garden.

    Arbequina Olive

Wow, we had an olive in our landscape when I was a kid. It was great for using the olives in our slingshots. :) All I can remember is it looked like it would grow anywhere. And in Spain I saw olives growing wild in the most inhospitable places. And I haven't seen any growing since. I think they...

    Gold Edge Red Sister

That's not so bad Bren. I would give it a little more time to get totally happy with its new home. Sometimes some just take longer to acclimate than others.

Can you tell me if it does the same in both orientations? And I am not clear exactly what you mean. What has moved up and joined the top header. Can you provide a screen shot?

    Found This Interesting

Every once in awhile you get a palm doing really trippy things. (Kinda like some people I know) :) That reminds me of that weird Queen Palm you had. What ever became of that? Did it survive?

One of the Biggest I've Seen - Allagoptera arenaria

That's about a 20 yr. old plant. But it's like 80º F everyday down there - 90º in summer. With perfect drainage.

    Lipstick experiment

Just don't let it go dry - you can't over water this one. I have one over 10 yrs old and I get into the low 50s at night for about a month.

Let's see how those 12 do for you Bren. I hope there are a few winners in there for you. Are you warmer or colder than ScotTi?

One of the Biggest I've Seen - Allagoptera arenaria

Ah come on! With a few breakthroughs in modern medicine, you've got 50 yrs. easy. :baby:

    Dypsis cabadae showing nice color

You always see tons of D. lutescens everywhere you go, yet IMO this palm is much prettier and just as available. It should be grown much more in commercial and everyday landscaping. It would give palms a better name than all the ratty looking D. lutescens you see around.

    Gold Edge Red Sister

I don't think I have ever seen that one. Cuz if I did I would have bought it or "stole" a cutting. :MJ:

One of the Biggest I've Seen - Allagoptera arenaria

A palm from the hot and dry Kona coast. I don't know why you don't see this more often in smaller temperate gardens. It's the perfect size and an easy grow. And salt tolerant to boot.
