Attention - Is this a new kinda Ti???

I'll have to review your posts about that method. I think the problem I may have at this point is these appear to be relatively recent cuttings, with only fine roots in the pot. If I remember correctly, I would need some nice thick robust roots to try that method. Because of the growth habit...

    Companion plants for crotons

I don't remember Caladiums ever being mentioned here - despite having some of the most beautiful leaves in all of nature - IMO How Come??? We have them, but they seem somewhat hard to grow for us - too cool probably, and fragile. But I bet they look really good in Florida. Doesn't anyone grow them?

Attention - Is this a new kinda Ti???

A couple of problems. 1) They came from Hilo - 2 hours from here, and those were the only ones. 2) I can't send anything with soil, or that has been in the soil. Thus, only cuttings and seed is what I have been selling/sending. 3) I would say I can ship some "logs" in due time, but I think with...

Attention - Is this a new kinda Ti???

Bren - The WalMarts over here buy from local growers when they can (for obvious reasons - no shipping/import costs) - so I wouldn't wait to see these lining the shelves in all major WalMarts. :) Scott - these are nice sized and went for $17/each - and labeled as "Showgirl."

Attention - Is this a new kinda Ti???

We found these Ti Plants, out of all places, at WalMart in Hilo yesterday. We thought they were so neat, we bought two. I hadn't seen any like this before. Have I just been unlucky, or are these something kinda new?

    Name this Ficus by photo.

Well it's hard to see the leaf shapes, but even they look different. Not sure what you mean Stan - no bar blocking photos on my screen. Can you take a screen shot?

Dypsis hovomatsina - Top 10, no Top 5

There are not many of these this size around. When the KP Lundkvist garden only has one, that is all the proof you need. If you have ever been fortunate enough to see one of these mature palms in person, you too would be drooling. The ones I have seen in the garden of Floribunda leaves you...

On second thought. Nevermind. I assume you would know that one for sure - right?

    Name this Ficus by photo.

Don't know Stan. But am I crazy to suggest F. benjamina? I can't see the leaves that well.

Gardenia gjellerupii Thai Gardenia. Any info? Californiacentric?

Can't help you Stan, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of those Gardenia flowers that started white and then turned this color.

    ID please

Bren - did you ever find out elsewhere. I see so many of these that look similar - wish I could help. Was this posted on PT with some resulting input? I think I remember seeing it. Wasn't it decided that it was the Dragon Tree?

    Gingers for Fragrance and Color

Here's an article from the Hawaiian point of view about Gingers - an under appreciated group of plants. http://www.tropiscape.com/wp/tropical-topics/gingers-for-fragrance-and-easy-color/

One of the Biggest I've Seen - Allagoptera arenaria

Thanks for sharing Tim. Whatever it needs to thrive it is obviously getting. What people can't see from these photos is the nice bluish color to the underside of their leaflets.

    Shots Of Ti

Your Ti's look fantastic. Your name should be changed to ScotTiTiTi Are you taking requests? I would like to see some more shots sometime of your entire garden. I only remember seeing a few. And no recent ones.

    Hayward Ravenea rivularis in winter.

So why does everyone think that a slight warming of the climate is bad? I would think as with most things in life, every change has some good and some bad.

    Lipstick experiment

Reason I asked was because I was on a bus that stopped on one of the daily tours after spying a seeding Lipstick. And I recall Trinidad Robert climbing it to get some seeds that many from that Biennial brought home.
