Welcome to the group. If you want rare crotons, you have to travel - probably over to the East Coast for events like the Searle sale and the upcoming croton meeting on 3/31. There are no exceptional croton nurseries on the west coast - or at least none that I've found. Peters Croton nursery...

Thrift stores are a great place to get old sheets, bed covers, quilts and so on to cover plants. Trouble is you have to get there early in the season since they go fast in cold weather. I'm in St. Pete and fairly close to Boca Ciega Bay and the Gulf which gives me a few degrees more than Tampa...

Judy - thanks for the update. Got any pictures? Still waiting for city pickup of a growing pile yard waste. A lot of truckers went south where they are getting more money per load.

Finally got internet service late last night (Fri 9/15). 8 cu yards of palms fronds, bamboo culms, branches waiting city pickup. Crotons came through in fine shape except when they got squashed by a flying royal palm frond. We were very fortunate here.

Yup, track right over the house here this morning. Car is packed except for the dogs and they're next.
