yup, the xerox out here don't have those pink/bright hues in the center and is mostly single colored. i'll keep an eye on it over the next couple of months but it breezed through the winter just fine

How to Propagate Cordylines (Ti plants)

my batch of Ti's don't look near as great but it's only been a few months since rooting and hopefully the cold weather is behind us, i think i got down as low as 39° for 2 nights. going to start looking at a spring order soon for palms and cordylines and hope i have better luck but it does look...

How to Propagate Cordylines (Ti plants)

you make it sound so easy scotti lol. i'm waiting to see what happens with the ones you sent me before winter. they looked good in vase of water until the very end and all the fronds started dropping and new growth started browning, they're all in soil now and hopefully a little sun and some...

i'm back .... help germinating logs

i'm going to put it in soil tomorrow, it's been sitting without water and the log is still "wet" but i'm going to rinse her down in a bit. i took these from the top cuttings you gave me and i didn't want to trim off that much since stem lengths of the top cuttings were just about perfect for a...

    seeds

interesting to read that you never could keep one alive in socal. i know of 2 homes in the neighborhood that i pass by daily that have a "green Ti" both are grown outdoors with very little care. now that i have a camera on my phone that's decent i'll take some photos in a bit when i take the...

i'm back .... help germinating logs

here's the one stem cutting that showed progress, the others have one or 2 root node that are starting but not really going anywhere. this one was done over winter in a normally unheated home where temps stayed in the 62°-69°

i'm back .... help germinating logs

the top cuttings you gave me looked real good indoors in a vase of water for about 3 months, with a bunch of root nodes after a couple of days. the new growth started coming out brown recently so i figured it was time to take them out. we'll see how they do in the upcoming weeks/months...

    Kahuna's Red

tell me about it :(. i'm trying to get a bunch of my friends into more tropical type plants like ti's and bromeliads since some of them live in great pockets for growing and when they ask for photos i always have to mist the plants first lol

i'm back .... help germinating logs

i've had a real hectic 2-3 months that i don't want to go through again but things are finally settling down and i'm trying to look forward to spring, which feels like it's right around the corner. ScotTi sent me a care package with a handful of plants from already rooted to top cuttings with...

Soil mix for Ti plants, to perlite or not?

that's what it is, fluoride. I haven't had time to really search for the articles but supposedly it leeches into the medium and causes burnt tips

Why do Floridians plant Phoenix sp.more then Californians?

there's a bunch of roebelenii's out here as well. one of the neighbors down the street just had all the trees and grass removed from the front yard and the first thing they did was plant about 7 or 8 triple roeb's from the big box store, they got slightly larger ones like 10gal plants, that...
