I only have a handful of crotons but I think they're a fantastic complement to palms and boos. Here in Sarasota, I don't know of any good and reasonably priced sources for any other than the few the box stores carry. Please let me know if there's someone nearby I can get some from!
I grew up hating crotons because I only ever saw one large broad leafed one used in hedge plantings in beating sun, so they always looked sickly and dropped a lot of leaves. It wasn't until I got interested in palms that I started to appreciate crotons and their role in the garden. Now I love their color, texture, and array of leaf shapes--other than the broad leaf.
