My Yellows....

Here are some shots of my yellow and green crotons. I know many are not partial to just plain ole yellow and green, but they are beautiful nonetheless.

Please help me to successfully identify some of these yellows and greens.


First three: (1) What I call "Easter" until someone can identify it; (2) Fishbone; (3) Peace (the red is from a Rhedii behind it)

1st group - Easter appears to be what I've been calling Prince Phillip
2nd group - #5 is Lyrata, #6 is Punctatum, #7 is Davis #3, #8 is Sunny Star (or any variety of other names)
4th group - #15 is either Eburneum or Andrew (which has another name). #21 appears to be Robert Lavolois
5th group - #24 also appears to be Robert Lavolois, #25 is not Johannis, #26 is Johannis, #28 is Punctatum, #29 is also Johannis
6th group - #31 is Bogorienses, #33 is Edwin T Meredith

Rick - very good thread! At first in my embryonic croton disease, I was not a huge fan of the "yellows". As your collection grows, you need these cultivars. If you planted all the "colored" ones only, it overloads the eye and the colors become blurred. Mixing "yellows" and "coloreds" together along with different leaf forms is very pleasing to the eye!

Tim I know you planted tons of plants from a broad spectrum of plant families and genera in that garden. Space being limited, just curious how many crotons did get planted there? Some of the really rare cultivars should have cuttings or air layers made asap to be established for yourself as a back-up. Word is already starting to get out about the Audubon House Collection that may attract some nefarious types, just saying ...

Thanks Anna. Marie is the one who recommended Yellow Iceton for shady areas. It turned out better than I had hoped for. Lamar, I actually have this planted next to a nicely colored Geisha Girl. Pink Ebernium is planted in the bed directly across from it. Ron, I know what you mean by the nefarious types. I had some pretty bad damage done during the fantasy fest parade in one section. It's why I intentionally planted more common types on the perimeter. I have started some propagation, but some things need to grow out more before I do more. I also don't have a shade house so cuttings are real hit or miss for me. Most of the damage that happens to the plants takes place during the weddings and night time events.

Funny, I meant to say mist house. With that being said, the house we were renting is selling, and I am relocating once again. I'll have my plants at two locations for awhile. I don't think you know how badly I would like to have a permanent home down here. Moving really stinks.
