Dean, The pictures were taken with a Canon EOS Digital Rebel with a Canon 28-135mm ultrasonic lens. I have had this camera for 2yrs and still learning some of its features. Scott

Fantastic garden, Scott. Do possum eat bamboo? Excellent cordyline collection, and the plant combinations in posts 25, 26, and 27 are just killer.

Your garden is beautiful and you have a nice collection of tropicals. Your doing a good job with trying some nice tropicals that far north. Do you buy all your plants at local nurseries there, or do you have to travel around the state to look for hard to find stuff?

Toko, I purchased all plants locally. So far I have not had a problem growing the tropicals. I had a low of 27f last winter with no damage to the tropicals, but a few palms had minor damage. The Orchids came with the purchase of the house 11 yrs ago and have seen 26f with no ill effects. The problem is if we get frost with the cold, but I have planted the more tender plants in the warmer micro-climates in the yard. Scott

Thanks for the pics Scott. That is one thing most new arrivals to Hawaii say they miss - a real spring, with lots of color. I guess it's something we have to give up for eliminating winter. 
It's funny, because the birds still know it's spring. And start singing more and preparing nests, etc. But there is no explosion of color and new tree growth, etc.
Keep 'em coming. We relocated Hawaiians would appreciate it.

Here are a few pics of the Bromeliad plants that the previous home owners collected. I believe she said she had over 30 varieties (all had embossed name tags, some I can still find) ,but I never counted. Easy to grow without any effort and gives the garden a tropical look.

Nice Scott,
It would be cool to have a bromeliad society set up shop here like the Croton Society did. They would make for some colorful pics.
