I've gotten lazy & didn't move this palm inside. On several occasions it saw mid forties, 42 low for a couple hours. I did however have it out of the wind. It hasn't skipped a beat. I always heard it would cark under 50. I'm at the point where I either up pot or plant. If potted, it won't fit in my home next winter. I am throwing caution to the wind and planting in a sheltered spot. I will wrap & place microwaveable heated discs inside under 42.

I think these will take mid 40s occasionally - especially if they have sufficient warmth during the days - 70ºF plus - the higher the better.

But you are right on the edge - and using some fungicide, if you have some, wouldn't hurt.

I have one that has stayed alive for 10+ years. I get low 50s for 3 months a year. A handful of nights in the upper 40s. And low 70s in the days during those coolest three months.

You're part of Hawaii sounds a lot like Guadalajara or Lake Chapala.
For young people walking around all day in bikinis in the low tropical heat is fine. Get older,and moving up the mountain sounds better. I see a lot of people who moved to the tropics from cold climates look like boiled lobsters after awhile. That can't be healthy. I bet a few wish they had scouted higher elevations.

I was out of country so it sat potted in my pool screen. Closest station read 39. Time will tell. It's showing minor leaf burn but too soon to tell full damage.

5 days in & I see nothing alarming. Cautiously optimistic. Phil, how long were we in the high thirties??
