Just wondering, for those of you who live a little further north, what is the latest ideal time for planting before the cold comes? I've seen that crotons that are well-established fare better with winter cold. I'm in Sarasota very near the coast but still on the mainland. The coldest while I've been living here has been 27-28 degrees for a few hours. Of course, that could be in December or in February.
I was thinking mid-August to be sure, since it starts cooling around Halloween. What do you think?
