It's great to see palms, that I always assumed need lots of water and the deep soil of rain forests, in a somewhat dry and less hospitable environment. It's a lesson that palms are tenacious and many don't need the coddling care we tend to give them. :)
 
Trying to understand that climate a bit. I understand It's wet-dry tropical, and it's really hot right befor the rains come (we have that in common). What I sense though is this area is so far north that there isn't much chill, much less frost. Superficially. It seems we have some things in common, but I think our cold would make it impossible to grow this species here.
