I had this installed april 2014. A field grown specimen from south florida. I knew it had a lean but during the dig to move it up here, the trunked got cracked a bit being dug up. I knew it happened but made the decision to plant it regardless. Well, it's weeping black gunk now & throwing short fronds. I find myself uneasy mowing around it for fear of it falling. It's coming out soon. Hate to see a 27' palm culled. This palm had a great back story, seed from an original gone now south FL palm society member. At least I have one other healthy foxy. You win some & lose some

You always hate to lose a mature palm. And the older you get, the more it hurts - knowing you may not have the decades it takes sometimes to grow another up to size.

But - one good thing about those Foxy Ladies - they are rocket ships once they put on some trunk. So find a nice 15 gal somewhere, get it in the ground, and in 10 years you will have another that size.
