Can the suckers that have roots be cut from the mother plant to start a new plant ? See roots in pics...

I'm one for one doing this. But it was a fairly small 15 gal plant, so it was easy to get a good split. But I didn't notice any stress whatsoever.

Scott, air layer it. Pack some moss around the trunk base, cover with plastic, foil, or mesh, and allow some more adventitious roots to form, then separate it.
